For the lovers, for their children, for the animals, for the open but most of all - for my sweet Rilke Ochs Keenan.

All pieces are lovingly made by hand, by me, in Northern California.

ABOUT MANU:

“The animal is in the world like water in water.” - Bataille

This is how George Bataille describes the immanence of animality in his book “Theory of Religion” To us, this way of being ever present in the world, always in the moment, is one that can often feel impossible.

In my work - both in the actual making of it as well as in the final objects themselves - I aim to refocus our attention on the present moment and to provide a daily point of access to what Soetsu Yanagi calls the “Kingdom of Beauty”: a world in which our everyday lives are imbued with beauty and meaning through the regular use of simple objects made with integrity in the Folk Art tradition.
